Disappointment & Financial Fair Play

I'm forever blowing bubbles,
                   Pretty bubbles in the air,
                                          They fly so high,
                                                            Nearly reach the sky,
                                                                                 Then like my dreams,
                                                                                                        They fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding,
                                   I've looked everywhere,
                                                                I'm forever blowing bubbles,
                                                                                                    Pretty bubbles in the air,

UNITED, UNITED, UNITED.

No doubt as I did, you sat in front of the television watching Sky Sports News for the best part of the day awaiting The Silver tongued Silver fox that is Jim White, expecting movement on the West Ham Squad, i.e. players out in order to sign the elusive Striker we missed out on pre season.
Well as you know by now we did nothing in the last few hours of the window. In Fact all we did was sign Downing weeks ago, who is NOT A STRIKER.

We came so close at few moments of the window with news that Cardiff were interested in Ricardo Vaz Te, which came to nothing, due to the fact they only wanted to pay him 40% of his West Ham wages & expecting us to pay the balance, 60%, yes more than half and he wouldn't even play for us. A liberty is an understatement with regard to that offer, but then Norwich step in 1st bid rejected out of hand, but they came back unfortunately they came back with 27 mins left of the window, which left us with the impossible task of signing a striker.

I do hope that DS, DG & SA have a trick up their sleeve with regard to addressing this issue, as we have no actual first team striker, as Carroll is still injured, and we are bound to end up playing Sams famous 4-5-1.
It may seem unfair of me to finger out our Portuguese winger/striker, he was actually a striker when he came to us, but Sam played him out of position from day one. However stories & gossip have lead the board & the fans to believe he has been tapped up by another club, forcing himself to throw in a transfer request on the penultimate day of the transfer window.

Previously we were linked with

Zapata, Demba ba, Kuzmanovic, Trejo, Salomon Kalou, Shaun Maloney, Oliveira, Gary Hooper, Varela, Matej Vydra, Joel Campbell, Loic Remy and now Quagliarella.

Quagliarella remained on the radar as nothing seemed to be happening especially after the Honduran Rojas who was considered later failed a medical. So with the FFP rules as they have been set out and no chance of breaking a £52m wage bill,West Ham had to offload players even to get a loanee.
Enter now SBObet our old shirt sponsors, with a package of financial benefit to handle our Asian betting, this would only add to the coffers, as per FFP rules, so we are even stronger financially to make decent offers for a player on loan.

But you saw it tonight we did NOTHING!!!!!

Are we, as I thought last weekend, (Beat Stoke by 2 and Top of the League) contenders for the top half of the table, or are we back to the old day's of our fabulous song.....

Then like my dreams,
They fade and die.
Fortune's always hiding......

God I hope I am wrong.
